Nuclear Medicine
The Nuclear Medicine Department offers state-of-the-art imaging for a wide range of nuclear medicine studies. We are proud of the fact that our Nuclear Medicine Department is accredited and recognized by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) and the American College of Radiology (ACR). The department recently received a three-year accreditation by the American College of Radiology for both SPECT and Planar imaging in General Nuclear Medicine and Nuclear Cardiology.
Griffin Hospital’s Nuclear Medicine Department provides its patients with a full complement of general nuclear medicine examinations, including bone, lung, thyroid, liver, and renal evaluations. The Philips ADAC Vertex dual-headed system is specifically designed to optimize nuclear cardiac studies (images of the heart muscle). This technology provides a distinct advantage to patients who come to Griffin Hospital for cardiac evaluations.
With its own private waiting area, the Nuclear Medicine suite offers a relaxed environment and attentive staff who make their patient’s visit pleasant and comfortable. In keeping with the Hospital’s Planetree Model of Care, the staff provides its patients with thorough explanations of all aspects of their exam, soft lighting, lumbar cushions for comfort as well as
music and aromatherapy. The Nuclear Medicine Department prides itself on its willingness to accommodate special appointment requests from both physicians and patients. Complimentary valet parking is offered to all out-patients who use Griffin Hospital’s Diagnostic Imaging Services. This program is offered Monday through Friday. Nuclear Medicine appointments are scheduled through the Central Scheduling Department at (203) 732-7101.
Our Nuclear Medicine Department is an example of how Griffin Hospital is changing the face of healthcare.
