CradleViews, an on-line peek at the tiniest new members of Griffin's family.

At Griffin Hospital, it is our belief that childbirth is one of the most important life events, and we recognize the role of the family during this joyful time. Your family and loved ones may choose to participate as much or as little as you like in the birthing process and our staff will be there to offer support and encouragement. Breaking away from traditional hospital maternity units, the Childbirth Center was designed to provide you attractively decorated rooms specially equipped to allow the baby and family more time for emotional bonding.

Based on our belief that the birth experience has a significant impact on the future growth and development of the family, the Childbirth Center offers family-centered maternity care in an environment, which will best meet individual and family needs. Our commitment is to make available a warm, caring family atmosphere and to foster family unity while maintaining physical safety.

Cradle Views

We want to let the whole family share in the miracle. In fact, we’ve created Cradle Views; an innovative way for new parents to share the birth of their child with loved one around the world by posting their photos on the Internet just hours after delivery. Just ask your nurse about our program and arrangements will be made while you are still in the Childbirth Center.

A variety of education classes are offered through the Childbirth Center. Click Here for a full listing of classes. All expectant mothers are encouraged to attend the Prepared Childbirth Class.

Other classes include Sibling Preparation and Preparation for Breast Feeding. A certified lactation consultant, a member of our Childbirth Center staff, is available for questions and information during your hospital stay, and for follow-up by phone during your breast feeding experience. We provide the Hollister Elite rental pump for women who need to stimulate or maintain their milk supply. The Childbirth Center nurses will also host instructional programs for you on bathing, feeding and other relevant topics. All new parents can take advantage of having 3 certified car seat technicians on staff to make sure they leave the hospital with baby PROPERLY and SAFELY secured in the car seat.

You will be given the opportunity to participate, ask questions and practice the techniques demonstrated. A Postpartum Support Group is also available. During or after your stay, visit our Health Resource Center where a full array of medical and health books written for the layperson as well as journals, magazines, computer databases and audio and videotapes are available. After acquiring your free membership card, you may borrow books to take home at your leisure.

Griffin Pharmacy & Gifts

Griffin Pharmacy & Gifts is a full service pharmacy providing over-the-counter medicines, vitamins and nutritional supplements and surgical supplies, including breast feeding supplies. Offered as a convenience to employees, patients and community residents, prescription orders may be faxed by your physician or they may be dropped off and picked up. We also offer a delivery service free of charge. Flowers, gifts, candy and jewelry are also available.

Healthy Beginnings

Our Healthy Beginnings Program invites mothers and babies for a return visit and free check-up. This award-winning program, started by our Childbirth Center nurses, has seen 94% of mothers return for an assessment by the nurses who cared for them during their stay. The nurses identify and treat problems in 1 in 3 mothers and babies.
